COPENHAGEN, Denmark — Two Trains Collide in Denmark, Leaving Five Critically Injured

In the early hours of Thursday morning, two trains collided near Hillerød, approximately 40 kilometers north of Copenhagen, resulting in a major incident. The Greater Copenhagen Fire Department reported that five individuals were critically injured, with around a dozen others sustaining minor injuries.

According to the North Zealand police spokesperson, there were a total of 38 passengers onboard the two trains at the time of the collision. Initially, four individuals were reported as critically injured, but this number was later revised as more information became available.

The cause of the collision is currently under investigation, with the incident occurring near a level crossing. Images from the scene depict the front ends of both trains damaged, although they remained upright on the tracks.

Mayor Trine Egetved of Gribskov, a nearby town, mentioned in a Facebook post that some of the injured individuals were airlifted to the hospital. She highlighted that the local rail line where the crash took place is a common route for Gribskov residents, workers, and students.
