3D printers Divergent unveils tech for major output increase

Divergent Technologies, known for 3D-printing parts for various industries, is set to open a new factory in Long Beach, California. The factory will house the Monolith One 3D printers, specially designed for high-volume production of large parts.

With the capacity to produce over 30,000 missile airframes annually, the new factory will significantly increase output. Once fully operational, it will be able to manufacture 60,000 warhead casings and employ more than 1,000 people.

This expansion comes as the US aims to replenish weapons stockpiles following conflicts and tensions worldwide. The company’s co-founder, Lukas Czinger, highlighted the importance of increasing production capacity in the defense industry.

The company’s innovative approach to manufacturing complex metal structures has garnered attention from government officials. Divergent’s technology has been utilized in defense programs and collaborations with major defense contractors.

By utilizing their Digital Additive Production System (DAPS), Divergent can streamline the production process and deliver products in a fraction of the time compared to traditional supply chains. This flexibility allows for quick adaptation to changing demands.
