AOC taunts Tom Homan after DOJ referral threat over deportations

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently made a bold statement daring border czar Tom Homan to take legal action against her for advising illegal immigrants on their constitutional protections. In a town hall event in Queens, she confidently stated, “Come for me. Do I look like I care?” This comes after Homan had previously threatened to refer her to the Department of Justice for obstructing President Trump’s deportation efforts.

Back in February, AOC hosted a webinar where she shared a “Know Your Rights” pamphlet on X, aimed at providing tips for undocumented immigrants to avoid federal authorities. Homan, in response, warned that those who impede deportations could face legal consequences. He emphasized that it is a crime to enter the country illegally and to obstruct law enforcement in carrying out their duties.

The pamphlet advised immigrants not to open their doors to ICE agents without a warrant signed by a judge. It also provided information on different types of warrants used in removal proceedings. AOC defended her actions by asserting that she was simply educating individuals on their constitutional rights, but Homan accused her of teaching them how to evade law enforcement.

During the town hall event, Ocasio-Cortez criticized the deportations, referring to them as state-sanctioned kidnappings. She urged individuals to demand a judicial warrant if approached by authorities and highlighted their right to turn them away if a warrant is not presented.

In a separate incident at the town hall, a woman confronted AOC for not doing enough to address the situation in Gaza, leading to a heated exchange. The congresswoman emphasized the importance of civil discourse and encouraged respectful dialogue among attendees.

Ocasio-Cortez also addressed her decision to vote “present” on US funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system, apologizing to her constituents for the controversial move. Despite facing criticism, she stood firm in her stance on voting down resolutions condemning Hamas terrorists and cutting military aid to Israel.

Overall, the congresswoman remains steadfast in her advocacy for immigrant rights and civil liberties, despite facing backlash and legal threats from authorities.
