Adriatic Film and TV Awards to Launch in Montenegro
The Adriatic Film and TV Awards, which celebrates the most outstanding achievements in film and television from the former Yugoslav countries, was officially announced at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Scheduled to take place from October 24 to 26, the inaugural awards ceremony will be hosted in Porto Montenegro, Tivat, Montenegro, with Porto Montenegro serving as the main partner for the event.
The winners of the awards will be chosen by the newly formed Adriatic Film and TV Academy, which operates under the Network of Festivals in the Adriatic Region. This network was established by the Sarajevo Film Festival, the Zagreb Film Festival, and the Auteur Film Festival in Belgrade.
Building upon the success of the Sarajevo Film Festival’s Heart of Sarajevo Awards for TV Series, the Adriatic Film and TV Awards will now also include recognition for achievements in the film industry. The academy aims to bring together over 500 industry professionals from the region, many of whom have previously served as jury members for the Heart of Sarajevo Awards for TV Series.
Voting for the awards will commence in June 2025, with the official nominations set to be announced during the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival in August. The awards ceremony will provide a platform for leading regional talent to network, share experiences, and promote their work on an international scale.
Porto Montenegro, known for its marina and residential village, is also home to Porto Montenegro Studios, a state-of-the-art complex equipped with recording and filming facilities. Developed in collaboration with the Puccini Floating Academy, the studios will play a pivotal role in supporting the film and television industry in the region.
