The shooting was described as “intentional” by officials, with a 20-year-old suspected gunman firing several rounds into the floor from an upstairs bedroom while partygoers were present.

The Ottowa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the shooting was intentional, with multiple rounds being fired. The suspected gunman has not been publicly identified, but police and prosecutors are considering criminal charges in connection with the fatal shooting.

Connor Lotterman was the youngest of five siblings and is survived by his parents, siblings, grandparents, nieces, and nephews. His sister, Marielle Lotterman, expressed her grief in a heartfelt birthday tribute, thanking him for being the best little brother she could ask for.

As the Grand Valley community mourns the loss of Connor Lotterman, the university’s Dean of Students, Aaron Haight, extended condolences to his family and friends. Lotterman was in his second year at GVSU at the time of his tragic death.

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of mixing firearms and alcohol. Authorities urge individuals to be cautious and responsible, emphasizing the importance of avoiding such situations to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
