Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe opens this week. Get a glimpse inside the new Florida theme park.

Universal Orlando Resort is set to unveil its newest theme park, Universal Epic Universe, just in time for the Memorial Day weekend. This highly anticipated addition to Universal Orlando’s Florida lineup will open its doors to the public on May 22, offering visitors the chance to immerse themselves in the enchanting worlds of Harry Potter, Super Mario, “How to Train Your Dragon,” and more beloved franchises. Located southwest of downtown Orlando, Epic Universe marks the first major theme park to debut in Florida in over 25 years, sparking a new wave of competition with the longstanding Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando.

While industry experts like Dennis Speigel, founder and CEO of International Theme Park Services, don’t believe Epic Universe will overshadow Disney, they do anticipate that it will make a significant impact. The development of Epic Universe is estimated to have cost NBCUniversal’s parent company around $7.7 billion, with Comcast reporting $8.6 billion in theme park revenue in 2024. With projections of drawing at least 6 million visitors annually, Epic Universe is poised to become a major player in the theme park industry.

The new park is expected to breathe new life into Orlando’s economy, which thrives on tourism. In 2024, the city welcomed over 75 million visitors, solidifying its reputation as The Amusement Capital of the World. Cassanda Matej, president and CEO of Visit Orlando, views the opening of Epic Universe as a significant milestone for the community.

Epic Universe offers visitors five immersive worlds to explore, each featuring themed restaurants, rides, and entertainment. From the Celestial Park, serving as the heart of the park, to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe, guests will embark on a journey through fantastical realms filled with magic, adventure, and mystery.

Ticket prices for Epic Universe start at $139 for adults and $134 for children, with variations based on the day of visit. Park hours typically range from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST, but may vary daily, so guests are advised to check the schedule before planning their visit.

As Epic Universe prepares to welcome guests from near and far, the excitement and anticipation surrounding this new theme park are palpable. With its diverse array of immersive experiences and attractions, Universal Epic Universe promises to captivate the hearts and imaginations of visitors of all ages, offering a truly unforgettable adventure in the heart of Orlando.
