Porter House Bar & Grill, one of NYC’s top steakhouses to close

The Closing of Two Iconic Restaurants in NYC

The restaurant scene in New York City was abuzz with news of two high-profile closures. Porter House Bar & Grill, a renowned steakhouse, will be shutting its doors after 19 years of operation. Located in the former Time Warner Center, the steakhouse was a favorite among many prominent figures, including former CEO Stephen M. Ross and ex-mayor Michael Bloomberg.

In a joint statement, Chef Michael Lomonaco and the restaurant’s ownership team announced the closure, thanking patrons for being part of their New York story. The decision to close was attributed to a decline in business following the departure of Time Warner executives to Hudson Yards and increased competition from new steakhouse openings.

Despite being recognized as one of the city’s top beef joints by The Infatuation and TimeOut, Porter House struggled after changes in kitchen staff and management. Meanwhile, NeroLab Italian Food Zone, a massive 350-seat eatery at 40 Wall Street, abruptly closed just weeks after its soft opening.

Wall Street was taken by surprise when NeroLab closed due to “technical problems,” leaving many wondering about the future of the establishment. The Trump Organization, which owns the property, declined to comment on the closure.
