Two innocent teens wounded in broad daylight NYC shooting, third bystander narrowly missed

Gunman opens fire in broad daylight in the Bronx, injuring two teenagers

Two innocent teenagers were shot and a third bystander narrowly escaped a bullet when a gunman opened fire on a Bronx street in broad daylight on Thursday, according to police and law enforcement sources.

The incident occurred in front of a five-story walk-up building at 265 E. 176th St. in the Tremont section of the borough around 1:20 p.m., where two 17-year-old boys were struck by gunfire, one in the right arm and the other in the neck.

Although the teens were not the intended targets, they were caught in the crossfire, as per preliminary information from sources. Additionally, a bullet pierced through a parked Toyota Highlander, narrowly missing the driver who had just exited the vehicle moments before the shooting.

The victims were rushed to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and were reported to be in stable condition by the FDNY. The suspect, described as a male dressed in all black, fled the scene on foot, and no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.

Recent Crime Statistics and Impact on the Bronx Community

According to the most recent NYPD statistics, the 46th precinct, where the shooting took place, has seen 15 shooting victims and 12 shooting incidents so far this year, marking a slight increase from the same period last year.

Overall, shooting numbers across the Bronx have decreased by nearly 24%. However, the community was shaken by the tragic death of 16-year-old Evette Jeffrey, who was an innocent bystander shot in the head and killed in May.
