Betsy Gay, a talented yodeler and retired actress known for her roles in classic films such as “The Pinch Singer” and “Our Gang Follies of 1938,” has sadly passed away at the age of 96. Her friend, Bob Satterfield, confirmed her death on June 13.

Gay’s career in the entertainment industry began with her appearance in the popular comedy series “Our Gang Comedies,” later renamed “Little Rascals.” She portrayed the character “Effie,” Alfalfa’s girlfriend, and remained a part of the group for over four years before branching out into other film projects in 1938.

Throughout her career, Gay appeared in more than 40 feature films, including notable titles like “Tom Sawyer,” “Came the Brawn,” and “Man of Conquest.” She also showcased her yodeling skills in various movies and stage plays, earning recognition for her musical talent.

Prior to her acting endeavors, Gay hailed from a musical family and honed her skills at her parents’ music school. She eventually made her way to Hollywood in 1935, kickstarting her acting career as a child performer.

In addition to her acting roles, Gay excelled as a yodeler, captivating audiences with her performances in films and on radio shows. She collaborated with renowned artists and bands, further solidifying her reputation as a versatile entertainer.
