Mitsubishi hiking prices on new US vehicles in response to Trump tariffs

Mitsubishi Motors Increases Prices of US Vehicles by 2.1%
Mitsubishi Motors announced on Tuesday that it will be raising prices of US vehicles by an average of 2.1%. This decision comes as a response to the cost increases incurred by the Trump administration’s tariffs.
President Trump imposed 25% tariffs on car imports from Japan and other countries earlier this year, leading Mitsubishi to halt deliveries to US dealers. However, the company resumed deliveries last week.
The 2.1% price hike, effective Wednesday, is said to be a result of Mitsubishi’s regular pricing review to align with segment expectations.
In the first quarter of 2025, Mitsubishi’s U.S. sales saw an 11% increase. This follows a successful year in 2024 with sales reaching 110,000 units, up 26% from the previous year.
Despite the price hikes, Mitsubishi assured dealers that vehicles currently in showrooms would not be affected.
The company also shared its plans for significant investments in new vehicles and technologies, including updates to the 2025 Outlander, the introduction of a new battery EV in the U.S., and a collaboration with Nissan on a new vehicle to be manufactured in the U.S. in the near future.
President Trump recently hinted at the possibility of increasing auto tariffs once again.
