NY killer stabbed ex-wife 22 times because she ‘deserved it’ after he allegedly killed current wife
A man from New York has been sentenced for the brutal murder of his ex-wife in Schenectady after first killing his current wife in Brooklyn. Timothy Taylor, 38, made a shocking confession during his sentencing, revealing that he regretted killing his first wife and felt that his ex-wife “deserved it” more.
The disturbing chain of events began when Taylor stabbed his current wife, Theresa Gregg, in her New York City home. Feeling remorseful for this heinous act, he decided to travel upstate to Schenectady to target his ex-wife, Tishawn Folkes-Taylor. On May 27, 2023, he entered her home and viciously stabbed her to death in front of her three children, two of whom were also his own.
Despite facing her killer and knowing his intentions, Tishawn Folkes-Taylor bravely defended her children during the attack. She managed to protect them from harm before Taylor fled the scene. The District Attorney praised her heroic actions, stating that she made sure to keep her children safe in the face of danger.
After committing the murder, Taylor escaped through his ex-wife’s bedroom window, discarded his clothing, and boarded a bus to flee the scene. He was later apprehended by NYPD officers at a bar in Philadelphia with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service and extradited back to New York to face multiple murder charges.
It was revealed that Taylor and Folkes-Taylor had a history of domestic violence, with multiple incidents reported during their more than 10-year marriage. At the time of the murder, Taylor had pending charges in Schenectady City Court related to his ex-wife. As part of his plea deal, Taylor agreed to a sentence of 22 years to life. He is set to be sentenced on September 16 in Schenectady County Court.
This tragic case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of domestic violence and the importance of seeking help and support in such situations. Folkes-Taylor’s bravery in protecting her children from harm highlights the strength and resilience of survivors in the face of unspeakable violence.
