Man Arrested for Setting Pit Bull on Fire in Queens
Last week, a disturbing video surfaced showing a man dragging a motionless pit bull into a Queens street before setting the poor dog on fire. The culprit, identified as Isaiah Gurley, 29, has been arrested for this heinous act.
Gurley was apprehended around 8:20 p.m. on Monday after an alert shopper at the Queens Center Mall recognized him wearing the same maroon POLO hoodie seen in the video and promptly called 911. He now faces charges of reckless endangerment, aggravated cruelty to animals, torturing, injuring, or not feeding an animal, and arson with intent to damage property.
The horrific incident took place at 128 Street and 116 Avenue in South Ozone Park, where Gurley dragged the brindle pit bull into the street under the cover of darkness and poured an accelerant on the animal before leaving it to burn.
Upon police arrival, the dog was found lying dead in the street. It remains unclear whether the dog was already deceased before being set on fire or if it perished as a result of the fire.

Authorities are conducting a necropsy to determine the exact cause of death for the unfortunate animal. Additionally, it is unclear whether the pit bull belonged to Gurley.
According to police records, Gurley has one prior arrest for assault in Brooklyn on December 17, 2019. The community is relieved that justice is being served for this senseless act of cruelty towards an innocent animal.
