‘Yellowstone’ Producer David Glasser Sued Over $1 Million Debt
Producer David Glasser Resolves Lawsuit Over Unpaid Debt
David Glasser, a seasoned producer known as the “third Weinstein brother,” has been making waves in the industry with his successful post-Weinstein career. His company, 101 Studios, has been behind hits like “Yellowstone” and various spinoffs.
However, Glasser found himself in a bit of financial trouble recently.
Bob Yari, the producer of the Oscar-winning film “Crash,” filed a lawsuit against Glasser for nearly $1 million, the remaining balance of an unpaid personal debt.
Following inquiries from Variety, Glasser promptly settled the debt by making the full payment on Wednesday.
Yari’s lawyer, Behzad Nahai, confirmed the resolution, stating, “The matter has been resolved, and the full balance has been wired.”
The lawsuit revealed that Yari had loaned Glasser $1.5 million in January 2022 at a 6% annual rate, with the agreement for full repayment within a year.
However, Glasser failed to meet the repayment terms, and by April 2024, he owed $1.7 million to Yari.
After entering into a forbearance agreement, Glasser made partial payments but ultimately fell short of repaying the full amount on the maturity date, leading to the lawsuit.
Yari’s new venture, Magenta Light Studios, recently released “Bride Hard” starring Rebel Wilson and announced a joint venture to produce indie films with Evoke Entertainment and Freefall Films.
Glasser, as the CEO of 101 Studios, has been instrumental in producing successful shows with Taylor Sheridan. Despite the legal dispute, a spokesperson for 101 Studios stated that the matter has been settled in full and wished Yari the best.
With this issue behind him, Glasser can now focus on his thriving career and continue to make an impact in the entertainment industry.
