6 killed in air ambulance crash just outside Kenya’s capital
NAIROBI, Kenya — A tragic incident unfolded just outside Kenya’s capital on Thursday as a plane belonging to an air ambulance service provider crashed in a residential area, claiming the lives of at least six individuals, as confirmed by a local official and the aircraft’s owner.
The ill-fated mid-size jet, identified as a Cessna Citation XLS, had taken off from a Nairobi airport en route to Somaliland when the unfortunate crash occurred, according to AMREF Flying Doctors.
While the exact number of casualties and the cause of the crash remain undisclosed, the service provider has assured full cooperation with aviation authorities and emergency response teams to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
The crash site in the residential area of Mwihoko in Kiambu County, neighboring Nairobi, witnessed the loss of four individuals onboard the aircraft, as well as two others within the house that was struck by the plane, as reported by Kiambu County Commissioner Henry Wafula.
Responding swiftly to the distressing situation, the Kenya Red Cross dispatched rescue teams to the crash site in Kiambu, emphasizing the need for timely assistance and support in the wake of the devastating event.
