Pub on Pearl, a Wash Park dive bar, will close on Sunday
Cheers to the Pub on Pearl: A Neighborhood Favorite Closes its Doors
This Sunday, the Pub on Pearl will be serving up its famous cheap wings and beer for the last time before closing its doors for good at midnight. The beloved neighborhood joint, located at 1101 S. Pearl St. in Denver’s West Wash Park neighborhood, has been a staple for 35 years.
Owner Dani Baer expressed gratitude to the loyal patrons, saying, “Every moment serving you all over the years has been cherished, from Thursday night wing nights to Iowa Hawkeye games and every day in between.”
The property, owned by Denver pilot Ken Fukayama, has a rich history of bars, with the Corner Pub preceding the Pub on Pearl. Fukayama recently listed the building for sale, including the Pub’s lease which has nearly four years remaining.
Blue West Capital broker Josh Lorenzen highlighted the value of the Pub’s below-market lease, stating that once re-tenanted, the space will offer immediate value for the new owner. The building currently houses five other tenants, including a nail salon, hair salon, fitness studio, insurance agency, and barbershop.
For those looking to continue the Pub experience, a sister bar in Cap Hill, called the Pub on Penn, offers a similar vibe. Opened in 2010 by some of the same individuals behind the Pearl Street location, it remains a popular spot in the area.
As the Pub on Pearl prepares to say goodbye, patrons and staff alike are reminiscing on the memories made within its walls. While the future of the space remains uncertain, one thing is for sure – the Pub on Pearl will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who frequented it over the years.
