Celia Imrie Novel ‘Meet Me at Rainbow Corner’ Nabbed by Saffron Cherry

Saffron Cherry Productions, a renowned production company based in the U.K., has acquired the rights to adapt “Meet Me at Rainbow Corner,” the latest novel by acclaimed actor and bestselling author Celia Imrie. The book is scheduled for paperback release by Bloomsbury on Aug. 14, 2024, and will be transformed into a television series.

Imrie’s novel delves into the lives of a group of remarkable women working at the American GI Club in Piccadilly, London, amidst the backdrop of World War II. The story explores the bonds of friendship that these women forge in the face of danger, heartbreak, and unexpected romance during a time of bombings and farewells. It celebrates the resilience and camaraderie of those who united to bring an end to the war, incorporating elements of deception, espionage, and encounters with GIs.

Actress Joanna Lumley has praised the book as “utterly charming and engrossing,” highlighting its captivating narrative. Sally Lindsay, the creative director at SCP, expressed enthusiasm for adapting Imrie’s thrilling tale of wartime intrigue, stating, “Celia has created a thrilling world of high stakes, spies, and romance against the backdrop of World War Two. We look forward to bringing this extraordinary story to life on television.”

Imrie, who has established herself as a successful novelist in addition to her acting career, has penned several other well-received books, including “Not Quite Nice,” “Nice Work (If You Can Get It),” “Sail Away,” “A Nice Cup of Tea,” and “Orphans of the Storm.”

Saffron Cherry Productions is dedicated to honoring the historical depth and emotional resonance of “Meet Me at Rainbow Corner” as they develop the project. The company boasts an impressive portfolio that includes the award-winning series “The World According to Grandpa,” the film “King Lear,” and various female-led documentaries. SCP is also involved in co-producing “The Madame Blanc Mysteries,” a popular series starring Sally Lindsay.

Caroline Roberts-Cherry, the founder and managing director of Saffron Cherry Productions, brings her expertise as a Grierson award-winning director and BAFTA-winning producer to the project. Imrie is represented by Curtis Brown Group, Magnolia Entertainment, and Personal PR, and she is set to star in Chris Columbus’ adaptation of Richard Osman’s bestselling novel “The Thursday Murder Club” alongside Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and Ben Kingsley.
