AT&T customers could get up to $7,500 in a $177 million settlement. Here’s how to file a claim.
AT&T customers who were impacted by two data breaches can now file claims in a $177 million legal settlement, offering compensation of up to $7,500 per person. The first breach, disclosed in March 2024, exposed the personal information of 73 million current and former AT&T account holders, including birth dates and Social Security numbers, which were discovered on the dark web. The second breach, announced in July 2024, involved hackers accessing AT&T data from a third-party cloud platform, compromising the records of calls and texts for almost all of AT&T’s cellular customers.
Following multiple lawsuits filed in various courts across the country, the cases were consolidated into two class-action lawsuits. A federal judge ruled on a proposed settlement of $177 million, with $149 million allocated to the first settlement class and $28 million for the second settlement class.
While the settlement is pending approval, affected AT&T customers can now submit claims for compensation. The final approval hearing is scheduled for December 3, 2025, by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Eligibility for Filing a Claim
AT&T customers affected by either or both data breaches are eligible to file a claim for compensation. Notifications are being sent via email to eligible customers from “attsettlement@e.emailksa.com” by the settlement administrator, Kroll Settlement Administration. If unsure about eligibility, individuals can contact (833) 890-4930 for clarification.
Filing a Claim
To participate in the settlement and receive compensation, impacted AT&T customers must complete the claim form on the settlement website by November 18, 2025. By filing a claim, individuals forfeit their right to sue AT&T.
Compensation Amount
Customers affected by the March 2024 breach are eligible for up to $5,000, with claims accepted for losses incurred in 2019 or later. Those impacted by the July 2024 breach can claim up to $2,500 for losses from April 14, 2024, onwards. Providing documentation linking the losses to the AT&T data breaches is necessary for compensation. Customers affected by both breaches could receive up to $7,500 as overlap settlement class members.
Payment Schedule
Payments are unlikely to be issued before December due to court approval processes and potential appeals. Processing all claim forms also takes time, so patience is advised during the settlement process.
