Blue Bell ice cream containing nuts recalled over allergy risk posed by mislabeling

Blue Bell ice cream, a popular brand sold at Walmart, Kroger, and other retailers, has issued a voluntary recall of some of its products due to mislabeling. The company is recalling half-gallon cartons of its Moo-llennium Crunch ice cream, which were mistakenly labeled as Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. This mislabeling poses a risk to consumers with allergies, as Moo-llennium Crunch contains almonds, walnuts, and pecans which are not declared on the packaging.

The Food and Drug Administration announced the recall after it was discovered that the ice cream cartons were mislabeled with the wrong flavor. The error was identified by a Blue Bell employee while restocking a retailer. Fortunately, no illnesses or adverse reactions related to the mislabeling have been reported so far.

The affected ice cream cartons can be identified by the code 061027524 on their lids. These half-gallons were distributed to stores across various states including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida Panhandle, Northwest Georgia, Southern Indiana, Southern Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Southwest Virginia.

Consumers who have purchased the mislabeled ice cream cartons are advised to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. This is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of individuals with nut allergies who may unknowingly consume the ice cream.
