San Sebastian-Bound ‘Dolores’ from Brazil Picked Up by The Open Reel

The Open Reel, a leading Italian sales agent and production company, has recently acquired the international sales rights to the film “Dolores” directed by Marcelo Gomes and Maria Clara Escobar. The film, based on a screenplay by the late Chico Teixeira, revolves around three generations of women, with the focus on the character of Dolores, a 65-year-old widow and recovering gambling addict, played by Carla Ribas. The story delves into the dynamics between Dolores, her daughter Deborah, and her granddaughter Duda, each grappling with their own dreams and challenges.

Produced by Sara Silveira of Dezenove Som e Imagens, known for producing acclaimed films such as Gomes’ “Cinema, Aspirins and Vultures,” “Dolores” brings together a talented cast and crew to tell a poignant family drama. Cosimo Santoro of The Open Reel expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the compelling narrative of three women striving for a better life against all odds.
