Ricky Gervais Adult Animated Comedy Series Alley Cats Set at Netflix

Ricky Gervais is set to make a return to Netflix with a new adult animated series titled “Alley Cats.” The Emmy and BAFTA-winning creator of hits like “After Life” and “The Office” has cooked up a six-part show that follows the hilarious antics of a group of feral British cats from different walks of life. Described as a “slacker sitcom,” the series will explore the everyday struggles and triumphs of these quirky characters as they navigate the challenges of companionship and survival.

Gervais not only directs the show but also lends his voice to one of the cats, playing a fat, lazy, and opinionated creature with fangs. Joining him in the cast are familiar faces from his past projects, such as Tom Basden, Andrew Brooke, David Earl, Kerry Godliman, Jo Hartley, and Diane Morgan. Additionally, Natalie Cassidy and Tony Way will also feature in the series.

“Alley Cats” is a collaboration between Gervais’ Derek Productions and Netflix, with co-direction by Elliot Dear and animation by the acclaimed U.K.-based studio Blink Industries. The show promises to deliver a blend of humor and heart, with production design by Tang Heng, known for his work on “Kung Fu Panda” 1 & 2.

This project marks Gervais’ return to television as a creator, following the success of “After Life,” which aired on Netflix for three seasons. In addition to his stand-up comedy specials, Gervais recently lent his voice to the character Flippy the Fish in “Dog Man,” showcasing his versatility as a performer.

“Alley Cats” is set to premiere on Netflix in 2026, offering viewers a fresh and entertaining take on the lives of feral cats in a bustling city. With Gervais at the helm, fans can expect a witty and irreverent series that is sure to delight audiences of all ages.
