‘Dawson’s Creek’ Reunion Was Michelle Williams’ Idea, Sets Auction, Photo Ops
The highly anticipated “Dawson’s Creek” reunion event was initially sparked by Michelle Williams, who reached out to creator Kevin Williamson. Following James Van Der Beek’s stage 3 colorectal cancer diagnosis, Williams, along with Thomas Kail and Greg Berlanti, began planning the reunion. With Jason Moore set to direct, the entire “Dawson’s Creek” cast was on board for the event, which is scheduled for Sept. 22 at the Richard Rodgers Theater in New York City.
The reunion event will feature a live reading of the show’s pilot episode from 1998, with Van Der Beek, Williams, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, and other original cast members in attendance. Renée Elise Goldsberry, an original “Hamilton” cast member, will serve as the narrator for the evening, marking her return to the Richard Rodgers Theatre where “Hamilton” was staged.
Tickets for the event sold out quickly, but additional tickets are now available on BroadwayDirect.com, ranging from $199 to $1500. An auction will also go live on CharityBuzz.com, featuring items donated by the cast and producers. Some of the items up for auction include a dinner with Michelle Williams and Busy Phillips, original artwork, and signed memorabilia from the show.
Fans attending the event will have the opportunity to participate in photo ops with the cast for $650 per photo. These tickets include a digital photo with the cast, allowing up to two fans in one photo. Personal photography is not allowed, and photo op tickets must be accompanied by an event ticket to access the opportunity.
Kevin Williamson expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support for the event, which aims to honor James Van Der Beek and raise funds for F Cancer. He teased that director Jason Moore has some surprises in store for the evening, promising an unforgettable experience for fans of the beloved series.
