‘It immediately panicked my family and friends’
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has spoken out against California Governor Gavin Newsom for posting a “menacing” warning about her online. Noem expressed that the post, which read, “Kristi Noem is going to have a bad day today. You’re welcome, America,” caused immediate panic among her family and friends, especially in the wake of recent threats she has received.
In an interview with Fox News’ “Hannity,” Noem described the post as cryptic and menacing, leading to a flurry of concerned messages and calls from her loved ones. She mentioned that her family and friends are already aware of the threats she has faced from cartels and criminals due to her involvement in implementing Trump administration immigration policies.
Noem emphasized the importance of responsible communication in today’s society, citing the tragic consequences faced by individuals like Charlie Kirk. She urged for civil discourse and called out Governor Newsom for his irresponsible post, emphasizing the need for respectful dialogue and listening to one another.
US Attorney for the Central District of California, Bill Essayli, has taken action against Newsom’s post, referring the matter to the Secret Service. Essayli stated, “We have zero tolerance for direct or implicit threats against government officials,” and requested a full threat assessment from the Secret Service.
The incident underscores the significance of mindful communication and the potential consequences of reckless online behavior. Noem’s response serves as a reminder of the importance of respectful discourse and the need to prioritize understanding and empathy in public interactions.
