The Taliban government blames Pakistan for a strike on Kabul

ISLAMABAD — ISLAMABAD (AP) — The Taliban government accused Pakistan of violating national airspace on Friday, blaming its neighbor for a bombing in Kabul and an attack in the eastern province of Paktika.

The blast in Abdul Haq Square in Kabul occurred before 10 p.m. local time on Thursday, near several government buildings. Meanwhile, the Afghan Defense Ministry stated that Pakistan was responsible for both attacks but did not provide details on how they were carried out.

Pakistan has previously conducted strikes inside Afghanistan to target militants. In response to the accusations, Pakistani Army spokesman Ahmad Sharif emphasized the need to protect Pakistan’s interests against threats emanating from Afghanistan.

The recent incidents have raised tensions between the two neighboring countries, with the Afghan Defense Ministry warning of consequences if the situation deteriorates further. The Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project noted the uncertainty surrounding the source of the Kabul bombing.

Pearl Pandya, a senior analyst, highlighted Pakistan’s increased airstrikes in Afghan territory this year, coinciding with the Taliban’s diplomatic outreach to India. This development could potentially impact regional dynamics, particularly along Pakistan’s western borders.
