Lisa Ann Walter Sets Debut Comedy Special at Hulu
Lisa Ann Walter, known for her roles in film and television, is set to release her debut stand-up special in 2026. The comedian, who first gained recognition in the late 1980s as a stand-up comic before transitioning to acting, has signed a deal with Hulu to showcase her comedic talents in an hour-long special.
Directed by Walter herself, the special was filmed at the Helium Comedy Club in Philadelphia and is produced by Art & Industry. Executive produced by Walter, along with her “Abbott Elementary” co-star Sheryl Lee Ralph, Michelle Caputo, and Shannon Hartman, the special is highly anticipated by fans of Walter’s work.
On “Abbott Elementary,” Walter portrays the no-nonsense teacher Melissa Schemmenti, a role that has garnered her critical acclaim. The show, created by Quinta Brunson, is currently in its fifth season on ABC and is the network’s top-rated comedy series. Walter stars alongside Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and William Stanford Davis.
Prior to her role on “Abbott Elementary,” Walter was involved in creating, producing, and starring in several network sitcoms, including Fox’s “My Wildest Dreams,” ABC’s “Life’s Work,” and NBC’s “Dance Your Ass Off.” Her film credits include memorable performances in movies such as “The Parent Trap,” “Shall We Dance,” “Bruce Almighty,” “War of the Worlds,” and “Killers.”
In addition to her stand-up special, Walter will be joining Hulu’s “Hularious” lineup, which features stand-up specials from a diverse range of comedians. She is represented by Authentic, Gersh, and Innovative for her stand-up work.
