Peacock to Develop Taraji P. Henson Drama ‘The Accomplice’
Peacock has picked up the series adaptation of the novel “The Accomplice” starring Taraji P. Henson, as reported by Variety. The novel, written by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Aaron Phillip Clark and published in 2024, serves as the basis for the project. Jackson will executive produce through G-Unit Films and Television, while Henson will both executive produce and star under her TPH Entertainment banner. The production will be handled by UCP, although a writer has not been attached to the project yet.
In an interview with “The Breakfast Club” in October, Jackson discussed the project and Henson’s casting. The series follows Nia Adams, played by Henson, a fearless Texas Ranger pursuing master thief Desmond Bell, who is targeting one of America’s wealthiest families. As Nia gets closer to Bell, she uncovers a conspiracy that forces her to make a difficult decision between revealing the truth and protecting the system she has sworn to uphold.
If “The Accomplice” moves forward as a series, it would be Henson’s second show on Peacock. She previously starred in the drama “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” alongside Kevin Hart, Samuel L. Jackson, and Terrence Howard, her former co-star from “Empire” and “Hustle & Flow.”
Henson, a highly acclaimed actress, has received critical acclaim for her work in films such as “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Hidden Figures,” “Hustle & Flow,” and “The Color Purple.” She is also known for her role in the Fox series “Empire,” which earned her Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe win. Henson has showcased her versatility in various genres, from drama to comedy, and continues to deliver captivating performances on screen.
On the other hand, Jackson is an executive producer on Starz’s hit “Power” franchise, overseeing multiple projects within the series. He is also involved in producing other scripted series, docuseries, and films across various platforms. Additionally, he will appear in the upcoming “Street Fighter” movie as Balrog.
Both Henson and Jackson are represented by reputable agencies and management companies, showcasing their strong presence in the entertainment industry. With their combined talent and experience, “The Accomplice” promises to be a compelling addition to Peacock’s lineup, offering viewers a thrilling and engaging story brought to life by two powerhouse talents.
