IMDb Adds Intimacy Coordination, Dubbing and More Categories
IMDb has recently made a significant update by adding 12 new professional credits to their platform. These new credits include intimacy coordination, choreography, craft services, puppetry, voice actor dubbing, and more. Previously, these roles were grouped under the “additional crew” section. The addition of these new credit categories aims to provide greater visibility for all entertainment industry professionals.
In total, IMDb now features 45 professional credit categories, showcasing a wide range of roles and talents involved in the production of movies and TV shows. This update also allows professionals involved in dubbing foreign-language versions of films and TV shows to showcase their work on a global scale, opening up new opportunities for recognition.
These enhancements were developed in collaboration with leading industry organizations such as the Choreographers Guild, Colorist Society, I.A.T.S.E. Local 161, and SAG-AFTRA, among others. IMDb plans to continue expanding professional credit categories based on industry feedback, ensuring that every contributor to a production receives equal recognition.
IMDb CEO Nikki Santoro expressed the company’s vision to recognize every profession involved in the entertainment industry. This commitment to inclusivity and recognition was also praised by industry leaders like SAG-AFTRA president Sean Astin and Mandy Moore of the Choreographers Guild.
The Colorist Society and I.A.T.S.E. Local 161 also welcomed the new credit categories, acknowledging the importance of recognizing the diverse roles and talents that contribute to successful productions. The addition of these new categories reflects a step towards a more accurate and inclusive reflection of the entertainment industry.
IMDb has already begun migrating existing credits to the new categories, with updates expected to be completed by a certain deadline. Additionally, the platform now accepts dubbing credits in various languages, catering to the global audience’s interest in international content and the professionals who bring these stories to life.
Overall, these updates by IMDb represent a significant step towards recognizing and valuing the contributions of all entertainment industry professionals, showcasing the diverse range of talents and roles that make movie and TV production possible.
