Rhea Seehorn and Vince Gilligan Discuss Sci-Fi Drama

Rhea Seehorn, known for her role as Kim Wexler in “Better Call Saul,” is now taking on a new challenge in the Apple TV sci-fi drama “Pluribus.” In the series, Seehorn plays Carol Sturka, an author who is tasked with saving the world from a mysterious virus that unleashes happiness.

The role of Carol was originally written for a male lead, but was quickly changed when Seehorn was approached for the part. Speaking about her character, Seehorn mentioned that she was drawn to the idea of exploring how a woman’s anger is often perceived as a negative trait, but can also be a defining quality. She found it interesting to portray a character who is impulsive and reactive, despite being warned of the consequences.

Creator Vince Gilligan, who previously worked with Seehorn on “Better Call Saul,” admitted that he created “Pluribus” specifically for her because he wanted to collaborate with her again. He praised Seehorn’s talent and expressed his selfish desire to work with her once more.

Gilligan enlisted the help of his trusted team from “Breaking Bad” to bring “Pluribus” to life. He emphasized the importance of working with familiar faces and mentioned that some of the crew members have been with him for almost two decades.

Actress Karolina Wydra, who plays the character Zosia in the series, hopes that viewers will connect with the strong female characters in “Pluribus” as they navigate a world filled with optimism and empowerment. She highlighted the complexity and beauty of both Carol and Zosia’s personalities.

The first two episodes of “Pluribus” are now available for streaming on Apple TV, offering viewers a glimpse into a world where happiness comes with a price. This new sci-fi drama promises to deliver suspense, intrigue, and thought-provoking themes as Carol Sturka embarks on a mission to save humanity.
