Georgia Ticket Holder Claims Mega Millions Jackpot Worth Nearly $1 Billion

In an exciting turn of events, a lucky individual from Georgia has emerged as the jackpot winner in the Mega Millions lottery. The grand prize had soared close to $1 billion before the highly anticipated drawing on Friday night.

The winning ticket, which clinched the massive jackpot, was sold in Georgia, as confirmed by Mega Millions officials.

The winning numbers for the draw were 1, 8, 11, 12, 57, with the gold Mega Ball number being 7.

Following the absence of a jackpot winner in the previous draw on Tuesday night, the jackpot had surged to an estimated $980 million by Friday. This impressive sum now ranks as the eighth largest jackpot in the history of the Mega Millions lottery.

The previous jackpot winner dates back to June 27, highlighting the rarity of such monumental wins in the Mega Millions lottery.

The cash value of the prize is estimated at $452.2 million, offering the winner the choice between a lump sum payment or a structured settlement spanning 29 years.

This particular drawing marks the 40th consecutive draw without a jackpot winner, setting a new record for the Mega Millions game since the last jackpot was claimed in Virginia on June 27.

The odds of hitting the jackpot stand at 1 in 290,472,336, underscoring the sheer luck and chance involved in winning such a substantial prize.

Mega Millions is widely played across 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with tickets priced at $5 for a single play.

The record for the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won stands at an astounding $1.6 billion, achieved on August 8, 2023, showcasing the life-changing potential of this popular lottery game.
