6.0-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Anchorage, Alaska
On Thursday morning, a 6.0-magnitude earthquake shook the Anchorage metropolitan area, as reported by the US Geological Survey. The quake occurred at approximately 8:11 a.m. local time at a depth of 43 miles, with its epicenter located 7 miles west-northwest of Susitna, Alaska, about 67 miles northwest of the city. Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of significant damage, and a tsunami was not expected, according to the U.S. Tsunami Warning System.

Alaska is known as the most earthquake-prone state in the US and one of the most seismically active regions globally, with almost an annual occurrence of a magnitude 7 earthquake, as per the USGS.
This recent earthquake is the largest to hit the south central part of Alaska since 2021, as reported by KTUU TV. Despite the seismic activity, residents in the area remain vigilant and prepared to respond to such natural events.
