Data from Bluefield Realty Group indicates that 72% of pet-owning buyers would pass on a home if it didn’t meet their pets’ needs, while 67% would specifically purchase a home because of its pet-friendly features.
Renters are also seeking pet-friendly properties, with Furnished Finder data showing that pet-friendly homes are among the most searched listings nationwide.
Denver ranks as the No. 6 most-searched destination for monthly renters, attracting healthcare travelers and relocating families seeking work-life balance near the mountains.
Nationally, 71% of US households own a pet, with unmarried couples and single women factoring pets into their neighborhood choices.
Homebuyers are willing to make sacrifices to accommodate their pets, such as giving up bonus rooms or extra bedrooms.
Key considerations for pet-friendly homes include prioritizing pet-focused spaces, considering built-in features like pet doors and feeding stations, and planning for the long-term needs of pets as they age.
