Ford recalls nearly 273,000 vehicles over rollaway risk
Ford Motor is issuing a recall for nearly 273,000 vehicles due to a parking function issue that could potentially lead to cars rolling away, posing a risk of crashes, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The recall specifically affects certain models including the F-150 Lightning BEV pickup trucks from 2022 to 2026, Mustang Mach-E cars from 2024 to 2026, and Maverick pickups from 2025 to 2026. The NHTSA highlighted that the integrated parking module in these vehicles may fail to properly lock into park when drivers shift into that gear, creating a safety concern.
Ford has announced that it will be sending out letters to notify owners about the issue on February 2, 2026. The company has indicated that the faulty software can be updated either “over-the-air,” which can be done remotely, or by visiting a dealership. The recall reference number for this particular issue is 25C69.
This is not the first time Ford has had to recall vehicles for safety reasons. In June, over 197,000 Mustang Mach-E vehicles were recalled due to a separate issue concerning the cars’ door latches.
As always, it is crucial for vehicle owners to stay informed about any recalls affecting their vehicles and to promptly address any safety concerns to ensure the well-being of themselves and others on the road.
