The recent CBS News special, “Rob Reiner — Scenes From a Life,” drew in an impressive average of 6.2 million viewers on Sunday night. Amongst these viewers, 858,000 were adults aged 25-54, according to Nielsen ratings.

The 45-minute special featured new interviews with close friends of the late filmmaker, Rob Reiner. Friends such as Kathy Bates, Annette Bening, Albert Brooks, Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland, Jerry O’Connell, and Mandy Patinkin shared their reflections on Reiner’s career and legacy. The interviews were supplemented with clips from CBS News interviews with Reiner himself over the years, including his most recent interview with Lesley Stahl on “60 Minutes.” Additionally, the special showcased clips from some of Reiner’s iconic films such as “The Princess Bride,” “When Harry Met Sally,” “Misery,” “This Is Spinal Tap,” “The American President,” and “Stand by Me,” as well as his role in the ’70s CBS sitcom “All in the Family.”

For those who missed the initial broadcast, “CBS News: Rob Reiner — Scenes From a Life” is now available for viewing on YouTube and can also be streamed on Paramount+.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck the Reiner family as Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Dec. 14. Their son, Nick Reiner, has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder in connection to their deaths. The death certificates revealed that the Reiners sustained multiple sharp force injuries from a knife, resulting in their deaths. Nick Reiner faces severe consequences, including life in prison without parole or the death penalty if convicted. During his initial court appearance on Dec. 17, Nick did not enter a plea.

The news of Rob Reiner’s passing has left a void in the entertainment industry, but his remarkable legacy as a filmmaker and actor will continue to resonate with audiences for years to come.
