Hate-filled bigot damages menorah outside NYC food pantry

A shocking act of hatred occurred earlier this month in Kew Gardens, as a bigot targeted a menorah outside a Jewish food pantry. The incident took place at Tomchei Shabbos of Queens, where the perpetrator callously ripped the Hannukah candelabrum off the roof of a vehicle parked in front of the charity. This senseless act of vandalism not only desecrated the $250 menorah but also resulted in the breaking of one of its lights.

The suspect fled the scene after committing the crime, running towards Kew Gardens Road on 129 Street. The charity, which operates on a volunteer basis, provides weekly food packages to families in need. This attack on the menorah came just one day before another hate-fueled incident, where Elias Rosner, a Jewish New Yorker, was stabbed by a man spewing anti-Semitic remarks.

The perpetrator, identified as Armani Charles, allegedly shouted threats against Jewish people during the attack on Rosner. The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is currently investigating the vandalism of the menorah on December 15. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.

In a call for public cooperation, the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline can be reached at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) for tips in English, and 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish speakers. Tips can also be submitted online through the Crime Stoppers website. The community’s vigilance and support are crucial in addressing and preventing such acts of hatred and bigotry.

This reprehensible act serves as a reminder of the importance of standing against hate and intolerance in all its forms. As we strive for a more inclusive and accepting society, it is imperative that we come together to condemn such acts and promote unity and understanding among all communities.
