West Hollywood Social Justice Advisory Board Member Arrested for Domestic Violence
A member of the Social Justice Advisory Board in Los Angeles, Marlene Esquivel, was recently arrested on a domestic violence charge in West Hollywood. The 41-year-old was taken into custody on Monday afternoon, as reported by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office records.
Esquivel is facing a felony charge of “corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant,” according to the WEHO Times. The specific details regarding the individuals involved in the alleged incident and the circumstances surrounding Esquivel’s arrest have not been disclosed.
As a member of the West Hollywood Social Justice Advisory Board, Esquivel plays a role in advising the city council on matters related to social and racial equity. She has been serving on the board since May 2025 and was sworn in by West Hollywood Vice Mayor Danny Hang.
Following her arrest, Esquivel reportedly resigned from her position on the board. Efforts to reach Esquivel or other members of the advisory board have been unsuccessful. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office has not provided any additional information at this time.
Esquivel was released on a $50,000 bond, as indicated by jail records. The incident has raised concerns within the community and among those involved in social justice advocacy in West Hollywood.
