‘Happy Valley’ Label Lookout Point Names ‘Conclave’ Producer as CEO
Lookout Point, the renowned BBC Studios label known for producing hits such as “Happy Valley” and “Gentleman Jack,” has appointed Juliette Howell as its new CEO. Howell, who previously co-founded and co-led House Productions with Tessa Ross, will bring her own development slate from House to merge with Lookout Point’s existing pipeline, creating what BBC Studios describes as a “super-charged drama label.” With a strong track record in navigating both local U.K. and international markets, Howell’s leadership is expected to further elevate Lookout Point’s standing in the industry.
Laura Lankester and Will Johnston, Lookout Point’s previous co-CEOs, departed to A24 last year, paving the way for Howell to step into her new role. Ross, who will continue as the sole CEO of House Productions, expressed confidence in Howell’s ability to excel at Lookout Point and wished her success in her new position.
Lookout Point’s impressive slate includes popular shows like “Happy Valley,” “Gentleman Jack,” “A Suitable Boy,” and “Pride and Prejudice” for Netflix. Louise Mutter will continue as the managing director of Lookout Point, working closely with Howell to drive the label’s success.
BBC Studios Productions CEO, Zai Bennett, praised Howell’s appointment, emphasizing her creative strength and leadership qualities. He highlighted the importance of having dynamic leaders like Howell to ensure Lookout Point remains at the forefront of innovative and captivating storytelling.
In her statement, Howell expressed excitement about the opportunity to collaborate with Lookout Point’s talented team and continue championing bold and distinctive storytelling. She looks forward to contributing to the legacy of Lookout Point and shaping the next generation of hit shows.
Ross also shared her pride in the work done at House Productions over the past decade and expressed confidence in Howell’s ability to thrive at Lookout Point. She wished Howell well in her new role and future endeavors.
The integration of Howell’s projects from House Productions with Lookout Point’s existing lineup is expected to bring a fresh perspective and drive innovation in the label’s content offerings. As Lookout Point continues to deliver compelling and engaging content to audiences worldwide, Howell’s leadership promises an exciting chapter ahead for the renowned production company.
