Winter storm live updates: At least 14 states declare state of emergency

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is taking proactive measures ahead of an impending storm, as detailed in an internal planning document obtained by ABC News.

According to the document, FEMA is strategically positioning vital resources at Camp Minden in Louisiana. This includes stockpiling 250,000 meals, 400,000 liters of water, and 30 generators to ensure that essential supplies are readily available in the event of an emergency.

In addition to prepositioning supplies, FEMA has activated the National Response Coordination Center and put incident management teams on standby. This coordinated effort aims to streamline response efforts and ensure a swift and effective response to any potential disaster.

Furthermore, the document reveals that 28 Urban Search and Rescue teams are on standby, poised to deploy and provide critical support for lifesaving operations as needed. These teams are prepared to assist state authorities in search and rescue efforts, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and preparedness in times of crisis.
