Anonymous Content Names Darren Walker as New President and CEO

Anonymous Content has announced Darren Walker as its next president and CEO, taking over from his role as president of the Ford Foundation. In his new position, Walker will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the production and management company, working from the Anonymous offices in both Los Angeles and New York.

Walker expressed his excitement about joining Anonymous Content, stating that the company is defined by creative excellence, independent ownership, and the freedom to take long-term bets on artists and stories. He believes that the company’s independence uniquely positions it to shape culture for decades to come and is eager to carry that legacy forward.

Michael Klein, a member of the Anonymous Content board, expressed confidence in the strength of the team and the company’s direction, emphasizing the belief in creative independence that has always powered the company. Board member Anna Golin also shared her excitement about partnering with Darren Walker as CEO and believes his leadership will support artists, expand global ambitions, and build on the company’s creative legacy.

As part of Walker’s appointment, Anonymous Content will receive a material investment from the social impact organization Emerson Collective to support the company’s growth.

Prior to joining Anonymous Content, Walker managed a $17 billion endowment at the Ford Foundation and oversaw 500 employees across global operations. He executed a groundbreaking $1 billion social bond to help stabilize nonprofit institutions during the pandemic and played a role in resolving Detroit’s bankruptcy. Additionally, he established a documentary film fund called JustFilms, which supported emerging filmmakers.

Walker’s impressive resume includes serving as president of the Board of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., overseeing a $250 million annual budget. Before his time at Ford, he was the vice president at the Rockefeller Foundation and has a background as an attorney and capital markets professional. He currently sits on the boards of several leading brands and organizations.

Founded in 1999 by Steve Golin, Anonymous Content is a production hub and management company representing over 200 directors, writers, actors, and comedians. The company has been behind Oscar-winning films like “The Revenant” and “Spotlight” and is currently working on upcoming TV series such as “American Classic,” “East of Eden,” and “12 12 12.”
