Denver Country Club mansion lists for $4M after 9-year renovation

Dawn Fulenwider’s 1970s Mansion Overlooking Denver Country Club

Dawn Fulenwider lived in her 1970s mansion overlooking Denver Country Club before embarking on a nine-year renovation journey. The mansion, located at 2155 E. Alameda Ave., was purchased for $1.9 million in 2015 from Robert Timothy, the former president of Mountain Bell.

The 5,000-square-foot home, one of seven custom residences built in the 1970s on the estate of Colorado Gov. John Evans’ great-grandson, sits on half an acre and is now listed for $4 million.

Renovations began with small updates like paint and new floors, eventually leading to a complete transformation of the kitchen, bathrooms, basement, and library. The original stone terrace and staircase in the backyard were carefully preserved to maintain its historic charm.

Despite plans to stay long term, Fulenwider and her husband decided to move to North Polo Club for a one-story home. The mansion was initially listed for sale in October, removed in late November, and relisted in January with Urban Market Partners.

Christy Owen, one of the listing agents, described the estate, known as Strawberry Hill, as a hidden gem with a rich history. Fulenwider’s home is one of two for sale in the enclave, along with a six-bedroom, six-bath home at 2111 E. Alameda Ave. listed for $4.2 million.
