Cherry Creek Italian clothier Mario Di Leone closing after 46 years
Mario Di Leone to Close Cherry Creek Store After Nearly 50 Years
Mario Di Leone, a purveyor of designer Italian threads, is closing his Cherry Creek store on March 15 after nearly five decades in business. The 70-year-old has decided it’s time to move back to Italy, fulfilling a long-standing desire.
Di Leone’s store is currently offering high-end brands such as Agnona, Malo, and Colombo at discounted prices. Most of the items, including sport coats, outerwear for men, and sweaters for women, are on sale for 30% to 65% off their original prices.
Known for carrying luxurious and sophisticated clothing, Di Leone emphasized that his store is one of the top clothiers in America, catering to a mature clientele who appreciate classic and upscale fashion.
The decision to close the store was influenced by various factors, including the impact of the pandemic on high-end retail sales. Di Leone noted that the shift towards casual attire, exacerbated by the pandemic, has affected his business significantly.
Di Leone’s journey in the fashion industry began in 1979 when he opened his shop as a student at the University of Colorado Boulder. Over the years, he established himself as a prominent figure in the industry, showcasing popular Italian brands and attracting notable customers.
Despite the challenges faced in recent years, Di Leone remains optimistic about the future. He plans to reopen a store in Aspen after relocating to Milan with his wife, carrying on his legacy of offering exquisite and timeless fashion pieces.
