St. Johns, Firefighters Foundation rally for Lt.’s daughter suffering from ‘rare and aggressive’ brain cancer

The New York City Firefighters Foundation and iconic members of the New York Knicks came together on Friday to show support for the daughter of one of New York’s brave firefighters. Four-year-old Izzy Cashion, who is battling a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer called DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), was honored at an event held at the Fluer Room in Manhattan.

Izzy was diagnosed with this devastating illness last August at an FDNY company picnic. Her father, Lt. Tim Cashion of Engine 46, is grateful for the outpouring of community support as Izzy prepares to undergo a two-month medical trial at Stanford University.

The event was sponsored by law firm Sullivan Papain and the New York Firefighters Foundation, and featured appearances by Knicks legends Allan Houston and John Starks. Both basketball stars joined the rally around Izzy to raise awareness and support for her fight against cancer.

Managing Director of the NYFF, Mimi Coluccio, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support shown to the Cashion family during this difficult time. The event highlighted the strong bond between firefighters and the New York community, with Sullivan Papain donating $10,000 to the NYFF to further assist FDNY families facing challenges outside the line of duty.

The presence of John Starks and Allan Houston at the event underscored the unity and solidarity of New Yorkers in times of need. As Izzy embarks on her medical journey at Stanford University, the community stands together to show support and compassion for the Cashion family during this trying time.
