Top Goldman Sachs lawyer Kathy Ruemmler to resign after ‘xoxo’ emails with Epstein surface
Goldman Sachs’ top legal counsel, Kathy Ruemmler, has decided to leave the bank due to her ties to Jeffrey Epstein, surprising many with her unexpected departure, as reported by The Post.
After recent revelations of email correspondence between Ruemmler and Epstein, including signing off with “xoxo,” the Wall Street giant announced her resignation, effective June 30.
Ruemmler explained, “I made the determination that the media attention on me, relating to my prior work as a defense attorney, was becoming a distraction.”
Despite CEO Solomon initially supporting Ruemmler, the decision to leave came after a controversial email exchange with Epstein, leading to her resignation.
While Ruemmler received gifts from Epstein, a spokesperson reiterated that she did nothing wrong. Ruemmler has been a key figure at Goldman Sachs since her appointment by Solomon in 2020.
With her departure, Solomon’s team faces a significant change, as Ruemmler was one of his loyalists who helped him navigate the initial challenges of his CEO role.
Despite the controversies, Ruemmler confirmed that she never served as Epstein’s lawyer. Her retirement from Goldman Sachs marks the end of an era for the top legal executive.
