Lindsay Lohan has had a tumultuous journey growing up under the spotlight, and as an adult, she questions why no one intervened to protect her.
In a candid interview with Vogue Arabia, the 39-year-old actress delved into the intense media scrutiny she faced in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Reflecting on her past, Lohan expressed, “Now I look back and wonder, ‘Why didn’t anyone just go and take me out of there, protect me more?’ You don’t know how to do that yourself when you’re a teenager.”
Having shot to fame with “The Parent Trap” in 1998 at the age of 12, Lohan faced criticism from studio executives who labeled her as “irresponsible” following a hospitalization for overheating and dehydration during the filming of “Georgia Rule.” Executives suspected her exhaustion stemmed from late-night partying and alcohol consumption.
Subsequently, Lohan battled addiction issues with multiple rehab stays and faced legal troubles, including DUI arrests and a felony grand theft charge for allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace from a jewelry store in Venice, Los Angeles.
Currently leading a more stable life, Lohan garnered attention last year for her involvement in the “Freaky Friday” remake but has since kept a lower profile.
Married to Bader Shammas and a devoted mother to their 2-year-old son Luai, Lohan is focused on her family and personal growth.
