‘SNL U.K.’ to Stream on Peacock in the U.S.
Peacock Acquires U.S. Streaming Rights for “Saturday Night Live U.K.”
Peacock has secured the U.S. streaming rights for “Saturday Night Live U.K.,” the British adaptation of NBC’s renowned late-night sketch series.
Viewers in the United States can catch episodes of “Saturday Night Live U.K.” on Peacock the day after they air on the U.K.’s Sky One and Now. The series is set to debut on March 21, making it available for stateside audiences starting March 22 on a weekly basis.
“Saturday Night Live U.K.” marks the first-ever British version of “SNL” and will mirror the format of the U.S. edition. The show features a core cast of comedians performing alongside guest hosts and musical guests each week. The main cast includes Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young. Jonno Johnson leads the writing team, with additional writers contributing to the show’s content.
Produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio’s U.K. team and Broadway Video for Sky and Now, “SNL U.K.” is executive produced by Lorne Michaels and led by James Longman as the primary producer and Liz Clare as the director. The U.K. production team is overseen by managing director Helen Kruger Bratt. The show was commissioned by Sky executives Phil Edgar-Jones and Lisa Clark under the leadership of Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of Sky Studios.
Liz Jenkins, chief business officer of NBCUniversal Entertainment, expressed excitement about the expansion of the “SNL” brand through the U.K. edition on Peacock. She stated, “As the streaming home of ‘SNL,’ Peacock is proud to introduce bold new British voices to a global stage.”
