Brazen robbery crew storms California jewelry store, steals $1.7M in just 70 seconds: video

A brazen and calculated robbery took place at Kumar Jewelers in Fremont, Northern California, where a ruthless “robbery crew” made off with a staggering $1.7 million in merchandise in just over a minute. The heist, described as a “mob-style takeover,” was captured in shocking surveillance footage released by the U.S. Department of Justice.

The video shows a fleet of vehicles screeching to a halt in front of the jewelry store, with nearly two dozen masked suspects in dark hoodies swarming in like a tactical unit. Armed with picks and hammers and carrying backpacks, the thieves executed the raid with surgical precision. In a matter of seconds, they smashed glass cases and filled their bags with gold and diamonds, clearing out an estimated 75-80% of the store’s inventory.

The chaos inside the store unfolded rapidly, with the professional thieves working swiftly to grab as much loot as possible. The raid lasted approximately 70 seconds before the group made their escape in waiting vehicles, fleeing with almost $2 million worth of jewels. The stolen getaway cars, which were also stolen, made it difficult for automated license plate readers to assist investigators in tracking down the suspects.

Following the robbery, authorities arrested four suspects allegedly linked to the crime: Afatupetaiki Faasisila, Jose Herrada-Aragon, Andres Palestino, and Tom Parker Donegan, all of whom were around 19 or 20 years old at the time. Faasisila and Palestino were later released pending the ongoing case, while the majority of the bandits involved in the heist remain at large.

The brazen nature of the robbery and the swift execution by the “robbery crew” have left law enforcement authorities and the community stunned. The aftermath of the heist has highlighted the need for heightened security measures and vigilance among jewelry store owners to protect their valuable inventory from similar criminal acts in the future.
