Beta Film Boards Spain’s ‘In Vitro’ Selected for Buyers Upfront

Beta Film has acquired the international distribution rights for the Spanish series “In Vitro” just before Series Mania. The show revolves around a 37-year-old biologist named Blanca who starts working at a fertility clinic. As she delves into the needs and risks of her clients, she also begins to confront her own desires and dilemmas.

Created by Marc Crehuet and Alejandra Guimerà, “In Vitro” is directed by Crehuet and is described as a heartwarming, innovative, and witty take on the process of making babies. The lead role of Blanca is portrayed by Bruna Cusí, who navigates ethical challenges that push her beliefs to the limit.

Blanca meets Héctor, an embryologist at the clinic known for his blunt honesty, which often intimidates clients. The clinic’s boss, Andreu, hopes that Blanca’s compassion will balance out Héctor’s demeanor. However, her idealism sometimes clashes with the practicalities of running a business.

The cast also includes David Verdaguer, Diana Gomez, and Maria Pujalte. “In Vitro” is produced by Moiré Films and Rodar y Rodar in collaboration with Bullfrog Pictures, 3Cat, and HBO Max Spain. The series has been selected as one of the ten featured shows in Series Mania’s “Buyers Upfront” showcase.

Apart from “In Vitro,” Beta Film’s lineup at the festival includes a diverse range of shows like their first K-Drama “Snow White Must Die,” Icelandic romantic drama “Everybody Loves Horses,” French thriller series “A Guilty Affair,” and German medical movie cycle “Simply Elli.” Additionally, highlights from the London TV Screenings such as “Gomorrah – The Origins,” “Maxima,” “Patience,” and “Barton Vet” will also be showcased.

Peter Lohner, VP Acquisitions Hispanic & International at Beta Film, expressed his excitement for “In Vitro,” praising its compelling storytelling, strong female lead, and universal subject matter. He commended the creators for their personal touch in crafting the series and looks forward to sharing it with audiences worldwide.

Overall, “In Vitro” promises to be a captivating blend of drama and comedy, tackling complex themes with a touch of humor and humanity. As Beta Film prepares to introduce the show to a global audience, fans can anticipate an engaging and thought-provoking viewing experience.
