US servicemember’s harrowing final words to dad before being killed in Iraq plane crash

Tech Sgt. Tyler Simmons, one of the US airmen tragically killed in a refueling plane crash in Iraqi skies, had a heart-wrenching conversation with his father just a day before the incident. His father, Mylo, recounted how Tyler seemed very calm during their final call from the Middle East, expressing his love for his family and his dog, Grayson. However, Tyler also shared a chilling prediction with his father, stating that he didn’t think he would be coming back home from the Iran war.

Despite his premonition, Mylo hoped that Tyler’s prediction would be proven wrong. He found solace in the fact that his son passed away while doing what he loved. Mylo reflected on Tyler’s passion for his work and his commitment to living life without regrets. He described Tyler as an amazing son and expressed his gratitude for the privilege of being his father.

Before his untimely death, Tyler had opened up to his family about the challenges he faced during his deployment. He had informed his mother, Cheryl, about being shot at by the enemy. The devastating news of Tyler’s passing was delivered to Cheryl by officers who arrived at her doorstep, leaving her in disbelief and shock.

Tyler Simmons, along with two other service members from the 121st Air Refueling Wing in Columbus, Ohio — Seth Koval and Curtis Angst — lost their lives in the tragic crash. The remaining victims, Maj. John A. Klinner, Capt. Ariana Savino, and Tech Sgt. Ashley Pruitt, were from the 6th Air Refueling Wing at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth hailed all six individuals as American heroes.

The loss of these brave airmen has deeply impacted their families, colleagues, and the nation as a whole. They will be remembered for their dedication to serving their country and for their ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
