‘It’s sick’ — footage shows masked thugs prowling through posh LA farmers market

A group of masked individuals caused chaos at the Larchmont Village Farmers Market in Los Angeles over the weekend, as they filmed themselves terrorizing shoppers in a coordinated attack. The five men, whose identities remain unknown, roamed through the market, menacing women, children, and teens, and allegedly using pepper spray on patrons.

The group, some of whom wore shirts with the logo “FTP”, refused to stop filming even when asked by shoppers to desist. The term “FTP” typically stands for “F— The Police”, but it could also refer to a local streetwear brand with the same initials. The men continued to film people without consent, causing discomfort and fear among the market-goers.

Fifteen-year-old Angel Hernandez recounted his experience of being filmed by the group despite expressing his discomfort as a minor. The men’s intrusive behavior left him feeling vulnerable and unsure of their intentions. A young mother with a baby and toddler also voiced her unease at being filmed, but the masked men dismissed her concerns and continued filming.

The masked individuals surrounded market workers and vendors, creating an intimidating atmosphere at the usually peaceful market. Vendors felt helpless in the face of the group’s aggressive filming tactics. Some witnesses reported that the men sprayed pepper spray on shoppers, further escalating the situation.

Law enforcement responded to a 911 call reporting a possible battery at the market, but by the time they arrived, the masked individuals had already left. The victims who were affected by the pepper spray had also departed, making it difficult for the police to apprehend the suspects. The LAPD indicated that they were actively searching for the group.

The Larchmont Village Farmers Market, known for its variety of produce, baked goods, and handmade crafts, is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The market management promptly asked the masked individuals to leave the premises. Additionally, a representative from the official film office of Los Angeles, FilmLA, noted that the group did not have the necessary permits for commercial filming in the city.

The incident at the farmers market has raised concerns about privacy and safety in public spaces. The intrusive behavior of the masked individuals has left many reeling from the experience and calling for stricter regulations on filming in public areas. As the investigation continues, authorities are working to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the disruption at the market.
