Military continues urgent search for F-15 co-pilot behind enemy lines in Iran

The search for an American pilot missing behind enemy lines in Iran has intensified, with two rescue helicopters deployed and armed tribesmen joining the effort to find the vanished US military member. The pilot was forced to eject from an F-15E Strike Eagle after it was shot down near Iraq’s border in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for shooting down the fighter jet and offered a $60,000 reward for the pilot’s capture. Local villagers and Bakhtiari tribesmen have been enlisted to assist in the search, with reports of a bounty for anyone who finds the missing pilot alive.

Footage posted on social media shows villagers and tribesmen combing through the region’s rugged terrain in search of the pilot. The Iranian regime has urged them to be on the lookout for the downed pilot, with instructions to hand them over to the police for the reward.

The downed aircraft has been identified as a F-15E Strike Eagle participating in the US-Israel air campaign against Iran. While one pilot was rescued shortly after ejecting, the status of the second pilot remains unknown. Experts are hopeful that a retrieval operation can be carried out under the cover of darkness, leveraging US military night-vision capabilities.

In the midst of the search and rescue mission, the war between Israel and Iran continues. Israeli airstrikes targeted infrastructure in Tehran, including near the Bushehr nuclear facility. In retaliation, an Iranian drone reportedly damaged Oracle’s headquarters in Dubai, and Israel faced another barrage of Iranian missiles.

The situation remains tense as the search for the missing American pilot continues amidst escalating military actions in the region.
