Dan Levy Considered a Schitt’s Creek Sequel Before Catherine O’Hara Died

Dan Levy, the creator of the hit TV show “Schitt’s Creek,” recently revealed in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning that he had been considering a potential sequel series before the tragic passing of his co-star, Catherine O’Hara. Despite his initial thoughts about a possible continuation of the beloved show, Levy expressed that a sequel series is no longer feasible following O’Hara’s death.

During the interview, Levy visited the iconic Rose Apothecary location from “Schitt’s Creek,” a place he hadn’t returned to since the show wrapped up in 2020. Reflecting on his emotional return to the set, Levy shared, “It’s tough, it’s tough being back. I didn’t think that I’d have quite an emotional reaction.” He also mentioned the cherished memories he shared with O’Hara, emphasizing the importance of holding onto those moments.

Catherine O’Hara, who portrayed the eccentric Moira Rose on “Schitt’s Creek,” passed away on January 30 at the age of 71 after a brief illness. O’Hara’s performance on the show garnered critical acclaim, earning her an Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actress in 2020. Alongside Dan Levy, Eugene Levy, and Annie Murphy, O’Hara played a pivotal role in the success of “Schitt’s Creek,” a show that followed the journey of a wealthy family who loses everything and is forced to rebuild their lives in a small town.

“Schitt’s Creek” premiered in 2015 on CBC and ran for six seasons, concluding in 2020. The show received numerous accolades, including nine Emmy wins, with O’Hara’s performance standing out as a highlight. O’Hara’s illustrious career spanned five decades, with notable roles in films such as “Best in Show,” “Home Alone,” and “Beetlejuice,” as well as appearances in various TV shows.

The legacy of “Schitt’s Creek” and Catherine O’Hara’s contributions to the entertainment industry continue to resonate with fans and critics alike. As Dan Levy navigates the aftermath of O’Hara’s passing, the enduring impact of their collaboration on the show remains a testament to their talent and dedication.
