President Trump Criticizes Pope Leo XIV’s Stance on Iran War

President Donald Trump took to social media on Sunday night to express his displeasure with Pope Leo XIV’s calls for an end to the U.S. war in Iran. Trump referred to the first-ever American pontiff as “weak” in his approach to foreign policy.

In his tweet, Trump stated, “Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy. I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon.”

Pope Leo XIV has been vocal in his criticism of the war in Iran and has been advocating for peace in the Middle East. He recently urged people to seek peace and reject violence, particularly condemning the ongoing escalation of what he deems an unjust war.

On Saturday, the Pope referred to the U.S. military offensive in Iran as a “delusion of omnipotence,” calling for diplomatic solutions to the conflict.
